CYBERWITCH
DESCRIPTION: The goal of this project was to translate common witch tropes and visual elements into a sci-fi/cyberpunk character for use in a potential RPG.
PROCESS: The very first step I took was research, looking into elements I wanted to try to include. The strongest and arguably most important being the wide brimmed conical hat, but I also wanted to include references to alchemy/potions, a hunched back, and long fingers.

From there I made a very loose quick portrait to get an idea of how my initial ideas would work, and when I was happy with the direction, I expanded it into a full character sketch.

With the sketch about where I wanted it, I went in and clean up the lines, and added some loose shading. I hadn’t quite figured out what I wanted to do with the staff at this point and explored a few different options before settling on something that seemed to work, inspired in part by mechanical arms used in certain factories, as well as window cleaning sticks which have cannisters of cleaning spray attached to them.

Finally, I moved onto coloring and rendering. If I were to expand this project further, I’d continue making concepts exploring things like different poses, costumes, color schemes, etc, as well as placing the character in an environment. Depending on how involved I got, I would also consider making a 3D model of the character, although anything beyond that point would require the details of the game to be fleshed out more.
